The Jabiru was originally designed and has been produced in Australia since the early 90's, and the factory reports that over 500,000 hours have been flown by pilots in both a training and recreational environment. Production of the Jabiru J250-SP in now done in Shelbyville Tennessee by Jabiru USA Sport Aircraft.

The Jabiru J250-SP is available to pilots in the U.S. as a Lightsport aircraft. The Jabiru uses composite construction in both the wings and fuselage. The plane features side by side seating with a center stick, flaps and dual rudder and throttle controls.

The cabin is nearly 45 inches wide.

The craft is powered by a Jabiru six cylinder 120 HP air cooled direct drive engine. The craft comes with 35 gallon fuel tank which gives the plane a range of 840 nautical miles which is roughly 7 hours of flying with reserve.

The factory reports that over 1,000 Jabiru aircraft have been produced and are flying worldwide, with approximately 50 of those flying in the U.S.
