Paracruiser Paragliders, Paratrike paraglider units

Leon Wacker of Paratrike has taken a simple idea and improved on it, to make it even better. For a number of years now Leon has been selling powered back pack paragliders. While promotional videos may make this look like a safe and easy sport to learn. In real life the take off and landing part is a not as safe and easy as it looks.
Paraglider back pack trike units.

So Leon has come up with the Paratrike. The Paratrike is available in both a single place and two place tandem unit, that can be added to a paraglider so that the pilot no longer has to worry about foot launching or landing his or her paraglider.

The advantages of the Paratrike system really come home on no wind days or when you inadvertently do a down wind landing.

The harness and throttle arrangement used with the Paratrike allows the pilot to fly hands off while in flight letting him/her enjoy the view, and take pictures or video while flying.

The large soft tires allow for faster take-offs as they allow the craft to accelerate faster, getting airborne quicker. The Paratike tandem unit uses the basic paraglider frame, but has an enlarged cage to allow for the larger engine and prop.

The trike unit can then be used as a basic

trike, or you can add front wheelie bars for steering, and roll over protection, as well as a rear wheelie bar for the back so that it cannot be flipped over backwards.

In the tandem version the passenger sits out front over the wheelie bars with an unobstructed view.

The tandem Paratrike is powered by the MZ 34 with a modified exhaust for additional power. For extra lift an APCO Thrust extra large chute is used giving the unit a 450 lbs. lifting capacity.

The complete paraglider unit fits down into a suitcase and takes about 10 minutes to field assemble. The installation of the trike unit ads approximately 70 lbs to the unit and takes an additional 10 minutes to set up and break down time.
