The Buccaneer XA amphibious
ultralight aircraft was first introduced in 1984. The wings
and airframe feature aluminum bolt together construction.
The hull and sponsors are fiberglass, with the wings, tail
section, and area behind the seat covered in dacron.
The original control system used spoilerons
but these were updated in later models to ailerons. All but
early models use standard three axis, stick and rudder
controls, in a taildragger, pusher configuration. Power was
originally supplied by a Rotax 277, 28 hp two stroke engine.
Later models were powered by the 377, 447, and 503 Rotax.
