Light Sport Aircraft Pilot is a directory of aircraft that generally fit

The Sparrow Sport Special is pretty much a heavy-duty
version of the Sparrow ultralight.This
experimental is powered by the 52-hp Rotax 503, which
enables the bird to reach a top speed of 120 mph (Vne) and a
cruise of 85 mph. Stall speed is 31 mph.
Rate of climb is impressive at 1750 fpm. Takeoff requires
85' and landing 175'. Its 10-gal fuel capacity allows a
range of 300 sm. The service ceiling is 12,000'. |

Empty weight for this tailwheel is 350
lbs; gross weight is 710 lbs. The Sparrow Sport Special
stands 5.3' high and is 16.8' long. It has a wingspan of 26'
with an area of 117 sq ft. Structural limits are +4 and -3
G. The cabin is 24" wide.
The Sparrow Sport Special is constructed of tubing and
fabric and takes about 500 hours to build. The kit is does
not include the engine, instruments, or fabric. |
