Manufacturer
American Aerolites - no longer in business, no longer in
production.
The American Areolights Eagle XL is a single place
tricycle gear ultralight aircraft with a sweptback wing,
with a pusher prop, with a canard.
The Eagle XL uses bolt together aluminum tube
construction, with the double surfaced wing covered in
dacron sailcloth. The Eagle XL took approximately 75 hours
to build from kit. |
|
|
The Eagle XL uses wire
bracing with three axis control via wing tip rudders,
spoilerons, and a canard. It has a right hand stick, left
hand throttle, with the stick controlling the elevator and
spoilers, and the rudder pedals operating the wing tip
rudders.
Power was originally supplied by the 430 Cayuna, with later
models using the 377 Rotax. Suspension was via the main axle
tube flexing, and steering on the ground was via a steerable
nose wheel.
