A
low-wing taildragger built of wood and fabric (Fisher's
specialty), the 303 is powered by the same Rotax 277 that
has provided such good performance numbers for the Koala.
An enclosed canopy can be attached to the aircraft that will
keep the wind from mussing your hair while you burn a hole
in the sky. |

|
Compared to
the Koala, performance is a little less in the 303--a cruise
speed of 50 mph and the climb rate coming down to 700 feet
per minute... but that doesn't make it any less fun to fly.
As a matter of fact, those numbers aren't bad at all.
Stalling speed is only 25 mph--which makes for some very
nice slow-motion landings. The build time is only 250 hours
with building cost well within the reach of the budget
conscious builder.
This is an economical machine to build. No special
tools are required to complete the project and the same
options that can be put onto the Koala can be fitted to the
303, with the exception of wheel pants.
Zoom Report:
It doesn't get much cheaper than
this... and while it may not be a deluxe aircraft; it
suffers little in the handling department. It's simple, easy
to fly, and pretty easy on new taildragger drivers. Cute,
too!
