This small, sporty Bi-Plane is
a return to the essence of wind-in-your-face flying.
The FP-404 was introduced in 1985 and there are hundreds of
kits that have been completed and are flying through the
skies. |

|
Weighing in at only 275 lbs,
the FP-404 offers a payload capacity of 219 lbs with full
fuel. Powered by a 50-hp Rotax 503, the FP-404 will take off
in 125' and show a rate of climb of 800 fpm. You can chase
clouds for about two hours on its 7.5 gal of fuel before
landing (you'll need 200' of runway before coming to a
stop). The cruise speed is 72 mph; top speed is 90 mph.
This craft has a wingspan of 18' with an area of 120 sq ft.
Wing chord is 42" and she has a stall speed of 30 mph.
Structural limits provided by the manufacturer are +6 and -3
G. The FP-404 stands 5.4' high and is 14.5' long. The cabin
has an open cockpit that is 22" wide and provides 45" of
legroom.
The kit is priced to be within the reach of anyone and the
estimated build time is 300 to 500 hours for this
wood-and-fabric machine. Once again, as with all Fisher's
designs, no special tools or skills are required to
successfully complete the project. Builder assistance is
available if you need anything. The company boasts that 1100
kit has seen recent upgrades in its landing gear and paint.

ZOOM REPORT:
I was very pleasantly surprised with the FP-404. It's not
the hot rod it looks to be?but still is a lot of fun to fly
A bit more aggressive than the average Fisher flyer, it
hasn't lost any manners in the pro cess. A great little
machine with a fun personality.
