The Highlander lightsport
aircraft by Just Aircraft was introduced in the fall of
2004. It is a tail dragger featuring side by side seating.
It uses dual stick and rudder controls, with conventional
ailerons, and flaps. The wings can be folded in about two
minutes, without having to disconnect any of the control
systems.
Power is supplied by the Rotax 912 series of engines. Which give the Highlander exceptional climb out capabilities at over 1,000 feet per minute. Cruise comes in at
a respectable 100 mph. |

Highlander construction
features a welded 4130 chromoly steel fuselage covered in
standard aircraft covering materials. The wings use a tube
and ladder style of construction with aluminum tube leading
and trailing edge spars, connected with compression struts
and ribs, covered in aircraft fabric.
The Highlander lightsport aircraft is a true BushPlane and
can be purchased with large tundra style tires for landing
on river beds, and rocky shores. Pilots can also use the
spacious area behind the seats for sleeping in. The doors
can be opened and closed in flight, or can be flown with
both doors open. The Highlander makes a great float plane,
and can also be equipped with amphib floats.
The Highlander is available in kit form as an experimental
amateur built aircraft, or as a turn key fly away lightsport
aircraft. |
