UltraFlight No longer in business
In the late 70's two Canadian entrepreneurs Dale Kramer and
Peter Corley introduced the Lazair to the Canadian
ultralight aircraft scene. It was a very unique aircraft in
the it featured metal fuselage construction, three axis
control, a V tail and twin engines mounted on the wings.
The original proto-type flew with two 5 horsepower Pioneer
chainsaw engines that spun composite fixed pitched
propellers. Later models were updated to two Rotax 185
engines which produced 9.5 HP each. Some owners converted
their planes to a single mid mount Rotax 277 of 28 HP. |

The planes were covered in see through Mylar
material which allowed you to see right through the
wing. Over the years the plane was in production
approximately 1,000 kits were sold.
The early kits took about 1,000 hours to complete
with later Quick Build kits cutting the building
time in half. |
