Light Sport Aircraft Pilot is a directory of aircraft that generally fit
into what are described as ultralight aircraft, advanced ultralight
aircraft,
light sport aircraft, experimental light sport aircraft, experimental
aircraft, amateur built aircraft, ELSA or homebuilt
aircraft in the United States and Canada. These include
weight shift aircraft, more commonly known as trikes,
powered parachutes, and powered para-gliders.

This Sparrow 1 is powered by a 20 hp Rotax
277 aircraft engine, using a 2.58 - 1 reduction drive. The
Sparrow 1 features bolt together aluminum tube construction
covered in dacron sailcloth. The Sparrow 1 will take off in
140 feet, as a climb rate of 750 ft./m, and a cruise speed
of 50 mph, top speed is 63 mph. The
tricycle geared craft stands 6'8" tall and is 16'8" long.
The wingspan is 30'2", and it has a wing area of 120 ft.?.
It has a fuel capacity of 5 gallons.
The Sparrow 1 weighs 254 pounds, making it a part. 103 legal
ultralight aircraft. It has a gross weight of 504 pounds,
giving a payload with full fuel of 220 pounds. With the fuel
on board the craft has a range of 200 miles. |

The Sparrow 1 features standard stick and
rudder controls with a center stick, steerable nose wheel
and left hand throttle. The Sparrow
kit was offered several different ways, completed basic
kits, without instruments were engine and prop. Partially
assembled kits, or kits in portions that is, you could
purchase the fuselage hit first. Then the wing kit, followed
by the power plant. The Sparrow 1 was first introduced in
1987 in 1998 I have reports of approximately 20 kits being
delivered to customers. |
