manufactured as a complete aircraft by outlets in the U.S.,
but most have been built as amateur-built experimental

The CH 601 can be powered by a
number of engine options including the Rotax 912 series of
four stroke engines, and the Corvair aircraft engine
conversion, it features dual controls, hingeless ailerons, bubble canopy, and all
metal construction using blind rivets. Building times are
reported to be in the 500 to 750 hour range.
In Canada the CH 601 can be
built and flown as a basic ultralight, an advanced
ultralight or amateur-built aircraft. Pilots in the United
States may fly the CH 601 with a Sport Pilot license or as
an experimental amateur-built aircraft.
