Light Sport Aircraft Pilot is a directory of aircraft that generally fit
into what are described as ultralight aircraft, advanced ultralight
aircraft,
light sport aircraft, experimental light sport aircraft, experimental
aircraft, amateur built aircraft, ELSA or homebuilt
aircraft in the United States and Canada. These include

Pipistrel U.S.A. has recently introduced their new Virus SW
lightsport aircraft to the U.S. Market.
The Virus SW light sport aircraft combines speed with
unprecedented fuel economy. The Virus SW is winning over
aviators world-wide, just like it won the NASA challenge,
not once but TWICE!
All engineering work and testing of the new 34 foot Virus SW
was carried out at Pipistrel factory in Slovenia. The design
follows the EASA CS-22, CS-VLA and CS-23 (sections)
certification standards, as well as their FAA FAR
counterparts. |

The VIRUS SW has undergone
over a years worth of ground structural and vibration tests
, followed by an extensive flight test programme with more
than 100 hours cumulative tests. The Virus SW exceeded the
factory anticipated flight performance figures.
This has allowed the factory to increase the manoeuvring
speed from 76knots to 93 knots, and turbulence penetration
speed (green arc) from 76knots to 130 knots and the VNE from
135 knots to 163 knots.
(Note: LSA version is speed limited to 120 knots max
straight & level speed) This means that you can cruise
through heavy turbulence at speeds which were before beyond
red-line speeds for the original Virus.
The new Virus SW has the largest flight safety margins in
its category and can be equipped with the total rescue
system, which can be deployed even at maximum speeds and low
altitudes.
The Virus SW design philosophy is that you can achieve
performance and safety without wasting energy and polluting
the environment. Every aircraft is designed, manufactured in
a state-of-the-art, energetically self-sufficient facility
at Ajdovscina, Slovenia.
Geothermal and solar energy are used to power the whole
production process, preventing 180.000 kilograms of CO2
emissions from entering the environment every year. Virus SW
owners contribute to a better and cleaner World! This
Ecolution campaign by Pipistrel shows that eco-friendly,
high-technology products are in fact possible and available
