Electric
powered ultralight trike from Tampa Bay Aerosport
|
Abid Farooqui of Tampa Bay Aero Sport had
several new items he was demonstrating at the U.S. Sport
Aviation Expo. The first was an air bag system for trikes.
The system is hidden away inside the crafts shoulder straps.
Several sensors are located on the plane, to arm and deploy
the system. He had live demonstrations of the system
deploying. Once deployed the system can be reused.
Abid was also showing off the battery powered
version of Gerad Thevenot's trike. The trike was equipped
with a Flytec 60 amp-hour LiPo battery pack. |

To demonstrate just how light the trike is,
Jean-Luc Rousseau of Tampa Bay Aerosport lifted the unit
chest high, with the motor, battery pack and prop installed.
Abid believes that battery power is the way of the future,
and is looking forward to the time where he can use electric
power on his REVO trikes. For more
