The U.S. Sport Aviation Expo
2011 held in Sebring Florida was the site of a number of NEW
introductions into the U.S. Lightsport Aircraft Market place.
While the Alto 100 is new to the Lightsport aircraft market
the folks behind it have been involved in the light sport
aircraft movement since it's inception.
Both Ron Cobri and Dan Coffey of Corbi Air have been selling
and servicing lightsport aircraft for years.
In late 2010 they announced the introduction of the LSA ASTM
compliant, Alto 100 lightsport aircraft from DirectFly of the
Czech Republic. |

Using their years of
experience in both the general aviation and light sport
aircraft field they have worked closely with the factory to
produce a purpose-built lightsport aircraft. Corbi Air and
DirectFly have been able to produce an affordable, durable
and reliable aircraft tailored to fit into the LSA flight
school environment, but with features that general aviation
pilots have come to expect in today's aircraft. Items such
as electric pitch and aileron trim, nosewheel steering, a
Sensenich composite propeller, Beringer wheel and brakes
with an ALIR anti-skid system, Teflon coated aviation grade
wiring, and internal corrosion protection are just some of
the standard features found on the Alto 100.
Another unique feature from Corbi Air is the laminar flow oil to
water heat exchanger which helps warm the engine faster and
helps maintain the correct oil temperature on the Rotax 912
series of engines, something critical to long and reliable
engine life.
The main suspension on the Alto 100 is an aluminum spring
style landing gear, with a steerable nose wheel, and
individual toe brakes. The Alto 100 has a useful load of
over 600 lbs, and a range of over six hours on the twenty
four gallons of fuel stored in it's wings.
Corbi Air has a number of interior packages designed and
styled for American pilots, these include, leather
upholstery and wheel pants. Pilots can also choose from a
wide variety of optional instrument panels and avionics
packages from Garmin, Dynon Avionics and Advanced Flight.
With it's all metal construction service on the Alto 100 is
easy using traditional equipment and techniques that the
industry has been using over half a century. To make service
even easier the Alto 100 is equipped with a removable
instrument panel, and has easy access to the engine compartment.
The Alto 100 has been specifically designed by Ron Corbi and
Dan Coffey to be durable enough to take the punishment of a
flight training environment. But in doing so they have also
produced a safe, fun flyer that most general aviation pilots
will feel right at home in.
