The Ultra Sport if being offered as a ready to fly, factory
built aircraft under the LSA rules, or can be built under
the experimental amateur built category from kit form. The
kit uses simple aluminum bolt and rivet together
construction, with the wings and tail surfaces covered in
dacron socks, which simply slide over the framework.
Building times are reported to be in the 150 to 200 hour
range. An optional Ceconite covering package is available
for those that want to go with a conventional covering
system.
All materials are aircraft grade 6061 T6, and 4130 chromoly,
with aircraft grade bolts and hardware. The fuselage, wings
and tail section come completely factory assembled. No
special tools or knowledge is required to build the plane
with all of the tubing supplied pre bent and pre drilled,
with all parts needing welding being done at the factory.
The Ultra Sport uses standard stick and rudder controls,
with dual rudder pedal and a center mounted stick, with an
optional Yoke system available. The Ultra Sport can also be
equipped with floats, amphib floats, and skis. Engine
options start with the HKS 60 and 80 HP engines, as well as
the Rotax 503, 582 and Rotax 912 series.
When powered by the HKS
700 E take off distance is 150 to 200 feet, climb rate
around 800 feet per minute, cruise 70 to 75 mph. with a 35
mph hour stall. The plane comes standard with dual 10 gallon
fuel tanks, electric pitch control, dual throttles, Matco
hydraulic brakes, complete avionics, instruments, intercom
and headsets. The seats are adjustable for different pilot
heights. A flap option is available for float equipped
aircraft.
The factory reports that there are about 350 aircraft
currently flying worldwide, and they can
have a plane ready to fly in about 30 days, with a standard
kit ready to go in about 3 weeks.
According the the factory website
the ULTRA SPORT AIRCRAFT in kit form lists
for $24,540* and includes all of the flight surfaces,
