Javier Casaudoumeco from Aerolight Paragliders was at Sun N Fun with his
full line of Fly Products paramotors and trikes, including his Trike Para
and a new ppg engine. The latest RDM engine is 100 cc's and puts out an
incredible 22 hp, has a 4 to 1 reduction drive which puts out 110 lbs of
thrust at 9600 rpm using a two blade composite propeller.
With fuel on
board pilots can stay aloft for up to 5 hours. The engine is available in
both manual and electric start models.
According to Javier who is a ppg pilot and instructor while you do not
have to be an athlete to fly power paragliders you do have to be fit.

The
average person can learn to fly in about 4 days. Usually a two place
tandem craft is used to introduce the pilot to flying and the type of
control system used, then the student is introduced to the ground handling
and launching aspects of a ppg. Currently their are a number of certified
USPPA, and ASC training sites across the U.S.
Once a student has learned to fly he can have his PPG built to suit his
experience, and weight requirements, with different engines and chutes.
The Trike Para is ideal for the ppg enthusiast who can't or doesn't
want to run to foot launch his para glider. The unit is available in both
single and tandem units, is light weight coming in at only 31 lbs. and has
a universal mounting system which allows for connection to a number of
different para-glider power packs.
