Light Sport Aircraft Pilot is a directory of aircraft that generally fit
into what are described as ultralight aircraft, advanced ultralight
aircraft,
light sport aircraft, experimental light sport aircraft, experimental
aircraft, amateur built aircraft, ELSA or homebuilt
aircraft in the United States and Canada. These include
weight shift aircraft, more commonly known as trikes,
powered parachutes, and powered para-gliders.

At Sun N Fun 2010 I had the opportunity to
talk to Chris Collins, manager of the Mt. Vernon Airport in
Mt. Vernon Illinois.
Last year Chris and a group of local business people got
together to create Midwest LSA Exp Inc. The goal of the
group was to develop a light sport aircraft expo in the
Midwest.
According to Chris last years Midwest LSA
Expo had nearly 50 different aircraft on display with over
30 inside vendors in the exhibitor hall.
Chris reports that attendance was well above expectations,
and according the manufacturers and vendors sales at the
show were brisk. |

Chris also found it very interesting the
amount of people that had shopped at Sebring, Sun N Fun, and
Airventure but had actually bought at the Midwest LSA Expo!
Chris attributes some of the success to the fact that the
show is located in an area where there is a "real vacuum for
light sport aircraft sales," and "no other aviation events
highlighting the light sport aircraft segment at that time
of year."

Chris's mission at Sun N Fun was to
finalize the exhibitors that were not at the Midwest LSA
Expo last year, or who were on the fence last year and
missed the show.
From my personal experience, this group of
dedicated aviation enthusiasts really know how to put on a
show. They are down to earth people that represent
everything good in aviation, so jotted down the date, and
make add this show to this years must attend list!
This year's show runs September 23-25
