EQ 1 wireless aviation
headsets
Harold Christensen from EQ 1 wireless
communications was at Sun N Fun with his companies new wireless
aviation headsets. The easy to install system is designed
for "high noise and open cockpit environments," using 12 to
15 db active noise reduction headsets.
The system has no wires between the headsets or intercom
box, has active noise reduction for open cockpit flying, and
uses a wireless push to talk switch. It features adjustable
VOX to prevent clipped words. |

The units are turned on and off via a switch
located on each headset, and once turned on a voice prompt
through the headset tells uses what to do next and gives
information on battery condition, and charge remaining etc.
The question most asked according to the factory is whether
the system is "blue tooth," because blue tooth does not work
well in a high RF environment, the system uses a TDSM
protocol similar to a GSM phone. The
system is powered by rechargeable NICAD batteries, (a wall
charger comes with the system) which can give up to 30 hours
of use between charges. The system has a control link with a
universal mount, this is used to link the headsets together
and well as to connect a radio for total wireless
communications. The headsets can communicate with each other
for approximately 30 feet. Weight of the headset is only 11
ounces.
The system has been out on the market
since 2008.
